Dr. Brij Mohan Makkar Makkar is a Senior Diabetes & Obesity Specialist practicing in West Delhi. He completed his post graduation in Internal Medicine from Maulana Azad Medical College at New Delhi in 1987.
His area of interest is Diabetes, Obesity & Metabolic syndrome.
His international exposure in diabetes includes –
1. Practical diabetology from Steno Diabetes Centre
2. Advance preceptorship from UCSF San Francisco and San Diego
3. Observerships at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio,USA; John Hopkins, Baltimore, USA; Mayo Clinic, Minnesota, USA; and Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism, Oxford, UK
He is a certified trainer for Staged Diabetes Management Program from International Diabetes Centre, Minneapolis. Dr. Makkar is also Indian Course Director for Cleveland Clinic Certificate courses in Diabetes in India.
Dr. Makkar is currently Chairman of RSSDI Delhi Chapter, Hony Treasurer of RSSDI national body, a founder member of Delhi Diabetic Forum, a member of the executive board of DiabetesIndia, and Hony Secretary of Indian Obesity Network.
He is a fellow of Royal College of Physicians, Glasgow and fellow of American College of Physicians. He has also been awarded fellowship to American Association of Clinical Endocrinology which he will be receiving in May 2015.
Dr. Makkar is a member by “special invitation” to American Diabetes Association, member of AACE, EASD, and Canadian obesity research network. He is also member of International Committee of AACE-2014.
Presently he is practicing as Diabetes & Obesity specialist at Diabetes & Obesity Centre, and Sri BalajI Action Medical Institute in West Delhi.
This CME program is accredited with a total of 11.5 CME credit hours from Delhi Medical Council.
